Zbrush error: can't scale model so units are over 100

So the actual error is “Resizing All Subtools based on the selected dimensions will create XYZ vales larger than 100…” I’ve tried looking this up in google and the documentation and can’t find anything. I’m trying to use scale my model so that the x is around 214mm using Scale Master. I’ve seen other videos on youtube where people are over 100 so I’m guessing it’s a setting or something. Anyone know??

On scale master, I can set the units up to 20k, but gives me the error when it’s over 100. on the Geometry>size It only goes up to 100 so maybe that’s what it’s talking about but there is nothing in the documentation about it and I’ve seen on other videos that you can go past it.

Hi @MetalDrgn!

It sounds like your mesh is too large to work in the Zbrush worldspace. Note that for working in Zbrush, you want a tool > Geometry> Size value of around 2 max. For an imported mesh, by default or if imported correctly into a tool with a Tool > Export scale factor of zero (for instance, the default polymesh star), Zbrush will automatically scale the tool to this size, and record the value necessary to restore it to the actual size on export.

See this video for some of the reasons.

You should be able to correct this using the “Zbrush Scale Unify” option in Scale Master, though this may have implications for your workflow if using an imported mesh.
