ZBrush Default Folders, how to change?

Most programs work by simply using the last folder as the starting point for next time. But after saving tools to a specific folder, ZBrush doesn’t use that folder as the default for next time.

Its driving me nuts to go through all the sub folders to find my organized location each time i load/export/import. I like to keep my files all organized and all my programs projects near eachother (for easier importing/exporting mostly), but zbrush isn’t playing nicely.

Now i am not finding a preference for this either… nor have i found anything in searching this forum… so what am i missing? (Note that “Use ZBrush Folders” is not checked… so i don’t know whats wrong :/.

Any tips?

I go through the same procedure.Though now its routine for me so not driving me nuts.

May be theres a way to set it up in prefernces menu.

Aurick can help us better.

With Preferences>Misc>Use ZFolders turned off, ZBrush will remember the last folder that you loaded from or saved to in the current session. The next session will return to the ZFolder default until you load or save a file someplace else.

If you are not finding this satisfactory for your needs, there is another option. Leave the ZFolders option active, and in your ZFolders create a shortcut to your project folder. Then for example when you click Tool>Load it will open the ZTools folder and you can click the shortcut in that folder to go right to your project no matter where it might be.

spose that works. Still seems pretty odd to me… specially since there is an option fo zfolders which means they did think of it… but at the same time, it seems only partially implemented. Oh well, thanks!

I have the same issue. This is a poorly implemented setting.

Previous versions of ZBrush remembered the last save folder for ALL operations.

ZB 2025, however, doesn’t EVEN WITH USE ZFOLDERS UNCHECKED! So suggesting we turn it off, even though we have turned it off is not helpful at all. Neither is making us use a shortcut in the ZBrush folder. It’s completely counterintuitive.

Remembering the last folder used is “old tech” so the fact that ZBrush can’t even do that simple task is really shoddy programming at best.
