Zbrush core mini not starting with sphere or stone

I am a middle school engineering teacher new to zbrush. I am using zbrush core mini with windows 10.
When my student open up zbrush all they get is a cylinder and none of the brushes work.

I have tried restarting the program and starting with new sphere or stone block but get same cylinder.

Is there a start up file that is corrupt that I can replace?

I solved the problem. I simply copied the project file and the .gif files from a clean install the those computers/students who were having the issue and all is good.

In the future, a clean reinstall should solve any problems like these. This procedure requires you to delete both the program folder and the data folder before reinstalling so that there is no data at all left from any previous installation. It sounds like the installation files were damaged somehow either from user activity or a botched install. This may still be the case.

The following article describes how to do this for ZBrush, and it should apply to CoreMini as well by substituting the appropriate CreMini folders:
