zBrush Artist needed for project $$$

I need a zBrush artist that can create six “oak leaf” models for me. Each model is just for a single leaf, not an entire tree.

Here is an an example photo of one of the leaves:

Each leaf needs a fair amount of detail. Veins, texture, etc. The need to look like the real thing. These models are going to be reproduced in sign foam on a 3d carving machine. The finished size will be six foot tall, and between two to three inches in depth.

If you are interested please contact me (leafproject at starspan.net). Please send me some links or samples of your zBrush work.

This is a live project, we are working on it right now!

Just curious as to how these leaves are going to be used. Are they going to be hung on a wall?

Yes, they are going to be mounted to a wall.

I can provide a 2d Adobe Illustrator vector file of the leaf outline.

I need some help.

Is anyone availble for a small immediate project?

This is a paying job!

I would like to find someone that I can talk to on the phone or over iChat or AIM to discuss the project in detail.

Why dont you use the nvidia tool? You would get it in 5 minutes…

Open photo in photoshop, adjust photo to black and white, save image.
Background should be black.
Import image into zbrush>alpha.
Make 3d.
Color green.

That won’t help him. What he needs is a model ready for a tool path generating CAM. I doubt that Zbrush can be his sole Saviour. But it can be nice for details 8).

it was the thought that counted:D

Yeah, that’s exactly how I did it but mine did not look anywhere near as good as yours. Are you able to bake it and convert it to geometry using this technique?

I like the sound of 5 minutes. How much do you charge an hour?

I am trying to Google nvidia tools, do you have a link?

Is that a Mac program?

Nice zBrush work on your web page Sebcesoir.

Here`s a leaf I made a while ago, if you think it would work for you, let me know. I think I can make the one you need too.

This one is made with a texture and alpha downloaded from www.psicosonic.net, which was a nice site with free textures, now closed.
If the leaf looks good enough, feel free to ask any questions.

Your leaf looks awesome. It’s a little more detail than we can produce using our carving process. The stem and veins in the leaf that we are creating need over exaggerated to show up in the final carving.

Here are some vector art files that I have created to give you a better idea:

Hi PhotoKev,
I am a 3D CAD/CAM professional who dabbles in the 3d arts; perhaps I could help. I have lots of questions before I can offer assistance.

What type of cnc mill/milling software are you using? Do you need the leaf in .stl, .igs or .dxf format, or do you need a complete cnc toolpath? What diameter endmills will you be using? How much material do you intend to remove with each pass? Should the leaf be designed as a flat pattern or more like as it is found in nature?

Creating the .ztl file is easy with the make 3d function in Zbrush (as others have already shown). Increase the Mres value and your mesh will look better.

If all you need is the geometry:
Export your ztl as an obj
import the obj in blender(free at blender.org)
export as stl or dxf

Attached is an image of the ztl I created using the image from your other thread. The model took less than ten minutes to make; with a little manual cleanup it might suit your needs.

Sorry Chris, I did not see your post until today. Thanks for you sample. The modeling part of this project is hopefully complete. We are waiting for final customer approval so we can begin carving.

Regarding your questions, we use ArtCam and Visual Mill. This project is being carved with a 1/4" ball nose bit on a 3 axis CNC machine with a 12 inch gantry. Our bed size ix 6’ x 12’.
