Zbrush and WinXP X64

Hello fellow Zbrushers!

After having a serious Hard drive crash, and losing nearly 3-4 years worth of work, ive purchased a new computer system, thats running Windows XP Professional X64 Edition {the 64 bit edition of Windows XP}.

Upon reinstalling ZBrush 2.0, ive discovered that it wont run without some kind of tweak or update. Ive sent script errors to Microsoft, and gotten no responses or help {SURPRISE!!}.

Is there anything i can do to correct this error?

We are developing ZBrush 2.5 to be fully compatible with the x64 platform. It will be a free upgrade for our customers, but I don’t know yet how soon it will be released. Until then, here are the available options:

  1. If your system has 2GB of RAM or less, ZBrush can still be run under x64’s Windows 2000 Compatibility Mode. This mode won’t work with more than 2 GB, though, since Windows 2000 wasn’t able to handle that much RAM and wouldn’t know what to do with the extra amount found in the machine.

  2. Install ZBrush on a 32-bit partition.

  3. Install ZBrush on a 32-bit machine.

Thanx for the prompt response Aurick, although im still more or less not able to do anything with ZBrush until the impending update.
Im running 4 Gb of ram, on a very small HD not worth partitioning, nor able to run more than one OS on. Buying another 32 bit system is not a viable option either.
So with that ill just wait i guess, hopefully it will be a short wait, does anyone know when the release quarter for 2.5 will be, maybe?

I guess there is no limitation for ZBrush to run on a system with 4 gb ram under 32bit XP, right?
