zbrush and true space66

hello! I’m trying to understand something at truespace 66, cause I was interested by some features in that soft! but interface is at a first try, … curious…Does anybody use it with zbrush, and with good, not so good or worst wokflow between the both? …

Marcel,
I have Truespace5.1 and I use it with ZBrush seamlessly. I haven’t tried 6.6 yet but I am considering upgrading to it. I really like the rendering engine of TS and their shaders have great quality. It also has pretty cool modeling tools like Subdivision Surface modeling, boolean operations, metaballs, NURBS and vertex level polygon editing.
It exports very clean meshes.
There are some great plugins for it too!
The only complaint I have about TS is that it taxes my systems resources too much and becomes very slow to work with. I am on an old 633mhz P3 system w/384 megs SDRAM.
Best Regards,
Michael

I used ZBrush to model and texture almost everything in this scene and I used Truespace to render it.

and it has a very powerfull particle effect system!

I used trueSpace for about a year & to be honest… I’m not very fond of it.

I made the switch to LightWave about 6-7 months ago and couldn’t be happier.

What tools does trueSpace have that interested you?

i’ve always use, if not zbrush, nurbs in rhino… I should want to learn about polygons, trying to go “around” z mesh, in poly modelling; want to try the subdivision surface tools …

Ah ce Marcel!
Un vrai touche à tout
Et c’est tant mieux

I use Truespace 6.6 as my main moddler, and love it. I have never used Lightwave or Maya, mainly because their price is so steep, but even so, Truespace does everything I want.

Try the demo! The interface is different, but it grows on you very quickly

I used TS 6.6 in my work -( 3d visualisation )
and there is non 3d prog that has so fast workflow -( i tried LW and maya and …-they are good for film(animation) but there menües are driving me cra…for modelling i want to have all buttons in reach and visible…its a question of time…
(indeed there are some bugs in TS but which 3d prog have not? (if you want stability get cinema4d)

It’s all ultimately up to the artist when it comes to which software you should use.

Some people hate tS because of it’s “non-standard” interface. That never bothered me. I would say if you didn’t like LightWave’s modeler it’s because you never got used to it (it took me about a week). Once you do get used to it… you begin to see just how fast/efficient it is.

If you’re just looking for the modeling aspects of tS I’d consider getting an earlier version. tS6.6 had a lot of animation enhancements.

A version of Cinema4D is available in 3DWorld Magazine for the past two months… that’s worth anyone looking into.

Wings3D is an awesome poly modeler-- also free.

So many programs… so little time.

True Space
Seems complet : don’t work with Mac!

yes, so many programs… it’s frustrated, and also a luck, to have always in 3d the learning “taste” … thank you everybody for advice… I am mainly interested by subdivision surface, as nurbs modelling i am accustomeed to do is often “scyzophrenic”, doing something, to later split, to later blend, and trim once again… should really like to have a rough shape, then go more and more precise… (maybe it’s the strong influence of zbrush…) ; it seems that truespace offers a subdision mùodeller powerful, but…

Hi Marcel

I have TS version 5.1 & like it alot as a modeler, my advice if you find you like its workflow is to buy version 6 as it will save you from buying the SubD/mesh modeling plugins as they are now intigrated & work better.
