Zbrush 4R7 Constantly says it is "Subdividing Geometry" when sculpting on tool.

Things were going really well on this sculpt, and then as i was trying to mask an area of the model, things just slowed down completely, the mask pen tool started to look like it was using the drag rectangle functionality, but in a really “jagged” way. All sculpting slowed down to an unworkable pace.

I was using the 64bit version but even when i opened the model in the 32 bit version i got the same problem.

When I opened other tools i have made (one significantly larger than the one I was having problems with) I could sculpt on them just fine.

I had a little bit of luck hiding most of the model I am having a problem with and just working on a small part.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Somehow, I am guessing, I inadvertently hit the short cut for Dynamic Subdivision which is what caused the issue. I shut it off and I can sculpt and mask just fine, I turn it on and I get the issue I described above.

Thanks! I just experienced the exact same problem, masking and sculpting just slowed down so much that I couldn’t work. Dynamic sub-division was the problem, it now runs smooth again. Thanks!
