ZBrush 4R6, DAZ Studio, and GoZ

First, I apologize if this has already been answered, or if this thread is in the wrong place.

I’ve just purchased Zbrush 4R6 to use with DAZ Studio 4.6 on my main work machine. My main work machine has a small SSD for drive C and does not have room to install Zbrush on it (or much else other than the system files).

Zbrush allows itself to be installed to E: and activated, and appears to install the goZ items correctly to c:\users\etc., but the DAZ Studio folder is not there (the folders for Modo, Sculptris, etc. are). Reinstalling the plugin did not help. Zbrush does not identify DS in the Preferences–GoZ dialogs either and emptying the cache or updating paths does not help. Since it doesn’t have a DS folder to begin with I can’t force reinstall there either.

What do I need to do to get goZ working with DS in this situation?

ZBrush looks in the C:\Users\Public\Pixologic\GoZApps folder for installed applications. There should be a folder called DAZStudio64 for DAZ Studio. Have you tried searching for this folder to see if DAZ Studio has installed it elsewhere? You could then copy it and its contents to the right location. That might just work. Failing that, you need to contact DAZ for advice, as they produced the plugin and so are best able to help.

Aha!

Thank you very much. That helped.

For other DAZ Studio users:

My problem was that I install DS and products for it manually on my main machine, preferring to connect it to the internet only for product activations via wifi stub. This means no DAZ Install Manager. I was able to find the proper GoZ folder in C:\Users\Public\Pixologic on my laptop, which is always on and which had DS/GoZ installed via the DAZ Install Manager. Basically it was a matter of not having copied things to the proper folder. When I copied it to a pen drive and back to the main machine, it started working.

Thanks for the info - this might help with my problem - I can send a model from daz to zbrush, but then zbrush immediately crashes.
