Zbrush 4R2b Startup isnt working

I have correctly installed/updated ZB 4R2 and i have only been able to start the new 4R2B program a couple of times.
I did run it as administrator the first time and it worked but now it itsnt starting up.
Zbrush starts up but i get and error from the zscript i think and it says Unrecognized command.

I have a feeling that my main folder is supposed to be named ZBrush 4R2b but its not… its still called ZBrush4R2

Im trying to use the new update ZB 4R2B
Im also using windows 7
Can someone help please?

Please submit a Support ticket to request a fresh download link. When you receive that, uninstall ZBrush, delete its folder and then install from the download. That will deliver 4R2b directly with no need for an update.

aurick- ok thanks yo

Hi,

I´ve the same problem by upgrading to 4r2b. After deactivation 4rb and installing the upgrade no activation is possible. I´ve only see “unrecognized command” and zbrush will be closed. :frowning:

I’ve been having the same problem after I updated my Mac from OS 10.6 to 10.7

this is the error I get
“Zscript Note: Unrecognized Command”
Zbrush then crashes

Oddly, it ran just once a few minutes ago when I started it to write down the error message. I used it for an hour or so and quit the program. Now I get the same error and crash on startup.

I pulled my Zbrush 4R2 application folder from a backup I made before the OS upgrade. It still crashes.

Get this too after actually the upgrade to 10.7.3, Is the solution to do a fresh install from scratch as for thread starter?

Funny thing is it only happens every now and then… Makes me think it is some sort of permission error on the install.

Bothersome.

Logged into another user and back. Then it works. Another thing, it seems to hang when it tries to load the lighBox shelf.

Try getting info on the ZBrush folder (select the folder in the Finder and press Cmd+I). At the bottom will be a sharing and permissions section. Expand that if it’s closed. At the very bottom right of the window is a padlock icon. Click it and enter the admin user name and password to unlock permissions.

Now look at the user groups. What does it say next to Everyone?

  • If it says “Read Only” change it to “Read and Write”. Now click the gear icon beneath the list and choose the option to apply to enclosed items.
  • If it says “Read & Write” change it to “Read Only”. Now click the gear icon beneath the list and choose the option to apply to enclosed items. Then change it back to “Read & Write” and apply to enclosed items again.

Lock permissions and try running ZBrush. Hopefully your issue will be resolved.
