ZBrush 3.5

Does anyone know the new features in Zbrush 3.5?

If anyone attends Siggraph could you please inform us on what is being implemented into 3.5.

Thanks.

I’m sure the news will filter back here quick sharp, I can’t wait to hear of new features

Ohhh 3.5 eh!.Lol i still have 3.1 didnt knew about this latest one ^_~ thnx for the info. And i too am surely looking forward to the new features or the upgraded features in 3.5

well lets see, I have my calculator here

moto may I ask how old you are?

Lets just say moto is 33 just for fun.

33+40=73

Congratulations moto you might just see 3.5 before you die.

heh

But you better save all the hand movements so arthritis doesn’t kick in from using the wacom tablet too much in your early years.

Hahahah u made mee too old =p i am 16 xDD
Hahah arthritis eh.Lol too bad i dont own a Wacom atleast now

A mac version would be a good start

I take it 3.5 will be free? Seeing how there are many bugs in 3.1 that haven’t been addressed for so long, right?

It will be interesting to see what Pixologic Demo’s at Siggraph.

Some things I would like to see.

  1. Layered Painting
  2. The ability to bake out an Ambient Occlusion Maps
  3. Locking a brush stroke to a path drawn in the viewport
  4. The ability to have a sculpt pose as well as a final pose and to the ability to switch back and forth

The advancements with Mudbox will be interesting and we’ll have to see what Pixologic will do with 3.5.

Outside of seeing new features I hope they don’t leave it too long for a ship date as I may be forced to switch to Mudbox for future work.

Who knows if it will be free. At the very least, it’ll probably be free for those who bought Mac licenses and were promised a Mac version last year, and have yet to receive what they intended to purchase.

In the end, it all depends on how much is included in the new version.

If you purchased v2 and the v3 upgrade or v3 then the new version will be free for you.

I purchased the v3 upgrade, am running v3 on my MacBookPro (for free) and am awaiting (as are we all) on the free upgrade; Mac v3x.

And a clue; This book* has been in my shopping cart at Amazon for at least a year and a half, the publishing date has been pushed back regularly and is now November 10th. So I would hazzard a guess that we Mac users could expect to have v3x in our hands by Christmas. It is common to expect product ship dates by the Holiday season for apps announced and demoed at Siggy.

Originally “Unleashing Zbrush” by Anson Call, now “Zbrush Demystified” by Kelly Murdock.

It’s definitely free for all mac users. I purchased v2 before v3 even existed for either platform and have been assured of the free upgrade. PC users I’m not sure as they already had their free upgrade.

I’ve also seen that book and it’s release date has moved so many times. I even saw it advertised for release on August 12th (today), when Pixo are supposed to be announcing their plans… hmmm.

any news?

Apparently the 3.5 update will be free, as posted on cgtalk. Sounds good, but no other real news at all about it, including no release date (surprise, surprise).

This was posted over at the modo general forum.

  • The next release of ZBrush will be Version 3.5.
  • Version 3.5 will be released in the fourth quarter of 2008.
  • ZBrush 3.5 will be a FREE upgrade to all registered users (PC and Mac).
 * This will be the first unified version of ZBrush. That means that it will be released concurrently for Windows and Mac (Intel).
  • New features to be announced.

That’s all the information I could find on it. Supposedly they are showing some it off @ siggraph but, I haven’t come across anyone that has seen it yet.

edit It seems there will be a big announcement AFTER siggraph.

yeah there’s already a thread that says that here http://zbrushcentral.com/zbc/showthread.php?t=61998 I for one am looking forward to see what it will bring the zbrush community. in terms of features and new possibility’s it will open up to the rest of the industry and the most important thing the artist.

I have a huge thirst for big sumptuous 3.5 screenshots.

as cool as the features are in mb2009, i would like t point out that the current zb has them all except not to as high degree when it comes to the new mb poly limits and render quality. still any sculptor will tell you good and new work, as in actual work tools, are way more usefull than mere selfindulgent poly and render options. game artists would also benifit from more stable elements and new or/and simple workflow/tool impovements. we shall see.

I’ve read carefully all the announcement about Mudbox 2009, and i think that they laid solid bases for their next release, Musbox 2010, but for now, texture painting certainly lacks many tools, Psd supprt, and even 2d painting.

i have a fever.

and the only cure.

is more cowbell.

and zbrush 3.5 info.

I wonder what kind of stuff Z3.5 will be bringing to the table… I for one hope for at least real camera perspective, and material library with SSS kinda like the arch and design those max users have but for creatures and hoomins. I don’t know what else. Do we need Z animation? That’s prolly not the direction to take… How about more rendering stuff like realistic lights and cams and DOF. All with presets…

I wonder I wonder… The Fifth of November?
