zbrush 3.1 and import error in blender

hello,

I work with zbrush 3.1 and i installd blender 2.49b (32bit) for windows and
also Python 2.6.4

When i try to import wavefront obj file in blender i get following answer,
Error Can’t open file c : demohead start.obj.

What is the problem here ?

THis is a simple problem tommy_077 /
WHen you export from Zbrush with the intent of next importing into Blender.
THe naming of your export is crucial.
KEep the name simple as from your experience Blender does not recognize certain characters in names of obj files.
I generally avoid the use of hyphens and underscores with my Zbrush Exports.
I personally prefer using CamelCase style naming: Using UpperCase letters inside a name to give it ease of recognition.

hello,
thanks voor the tip.

My problem is now i dont can go in to the edit mode.
When i open blender i‘m not in the render panel ,i have to click

UV Face select mode.jpg

The image is from an old tutorial. The UV Face Select mode is no longer present as it has been incorporated into Edit Mode. Go into Edit Mode and face select and it does the same thing as UV Face Select.

Richard

The workflow is better in the new verion you have to use less functions.

I have post my Uv Unwarp here.
In the tutorial the Uv unwarp is one piece,My Uv Unwarp exist out two pieces.
Is this good Uv Unwarp ?

Don’t mark a seam down the middle of the face, this is the main focus of the model so wants to be intact otherwise when you texture you can get a clear seam showing. Mark a seam down from the top to the back of the head. Also mark a seam in a T shape along the forehead so it eases any stretch in the UV unwrap. You could then adjust with the proportional editing tool in the UV/Image editor to maximise the area for the face without stretching too much.

One simple way to unwrap the body:
http://www.screencast.com/users/blenderwho/folders/Jing/media/b8f6de94-9ef0-48e2-be7b-b0f4c81ce658
When unwrapped I scaled the UV islands in the UV/Image editor to make more use of the whole image area. You could break down the arms and legs into separate islands, choosing the position of the seams that are least noticeable (in natural folds of the body, covered by clothing etc)

Richard

Richard ,thank you for leading me through the workflow of Uv Unwarp and also for the link

Unwarp complete body.

I will finish firstly my tutorial dvd.

If i still have any questions about Uv Unwarp body , i will post them here.

Thanks for all support and maby till later.

Greeting,

Tommy
