I’ve been using Keyshot and ZBrush together for over ten years. In that time there have been occasional minor issues that were easily resolvable but with ZBrush 2023 there’s a whole new level of hell. As everyone will know sending a model to Keyshot used to be easy, from the Render menu you would select ‘External Renderer’, tap the ‘Keyshot’ button (in my case uncheck the ‘Auto-Merge’ button) then hit the ‘BPR’ button, the Keyshot Bridge would activate, Keyshot would open and the ZTool would be imported.
Now what happens is this: after the ‘BPR’ button is pressed an error message saying “RedShift cannot be located” is displayed for every subtool ZBrush is trying to export, when you have dismissed all of these messages the Keyshot Bridge does engage but as soon as the ZTool has been saved to the temp file Keyshot opens whilst, simultaneously, ZBrush crashes to desktop. I should add that, in the majority of cases, Keyshot will also crash.
I know Maxon want me to get RedShift and I’m sure the new integration with ZBrush works like a dream, but I really hope this isn’t the start of a ‘passive aggressive’ marketing campaign to get us to switch to the Maxon equivalent by sabotaging our existing workflows.
