Hi all,
I poked around the forum and couldn’t fined anyone with a similar problem. It seems like the newest version of Zbrush crashes a lot (like 10-20 times in a session) if I’m working on a project with a lot of heavy tools and subtools in it. It’s very frustrating. I’m pretty sure the last version of Zbrush didn’t crash as much. It felt like it could handle anything I threw at it.
My only recourse has been to make multiple instances of the project for each part I’m working on. For example I’ll save out a low poly version of the head, import it into a brand new empty project and create all the hair and accessories on it and then reimport the hair and accessories back into the full build. If I were to use the exact same method in the full project ie. trying to add hair and accessories on a low poly version of the head in a separate, brand new tool, meanwhile with all the other tools present in the project, I get mega crashes. Mega. It’s essentially impossible to work in the full project.
At first I figured it might be a RAM allocation issue in Zbrush but I couldn’t find any way to adjust that in the new version. I’m pretty sure last version I could go into the prefs and make sure it was maxed out (I haver a ton of RAM). Really hoping someone has some suggestions.
The main tool in project I’m currently working on is 76 million points with some subtools in the 5million point range. This is after I paired it down some. It used to be way bigger and the last version of Zbrush seemed to be able to handle it just fine. While it would crash every now and then it was nothing like it is now.
