Zbrush 2018: Missing buttons and undo command not working

So far my experience with ZBrush 2018 has not been great. After spending time to fully customize my UI the way I like it, I’ve noticed that certain buttons (anything related to masking, polygroups, or morph targets) stopped showing up and are not clickable. If I turn on “customize UI” I can still see a dark area where the buttons should be, but Ctrl+Alt+clicking them just makes it disappear.
But while that’s annoying, the next issue makes ZBrush extremely frustrating to use. All of a sudden I can not use ctrl+Z to undo. I don’t know why considering nothing changed and I’ve nothing to add or change any hotkeys. It just doesn’t work.

Any help fixing either of these issues is appreciated

About your customized UI, all I’m willing to say is a lot of UI items are context-sensitive.

About your Undo’s not working, go to “Users\Public\Public Documents\ZBrushData2018\ZStartup\Hotkeys\StartupHotkeys.TXT” and add the following lines and save…

[EDIT:UNDO,634] // Ctrl+Z
[EDIT:TOOL:UNDO,634] // Ctrl+Z
[EDIT:REDO,890] // Ctrl+Shift+Z
[EDIT:TOOL:REDO,890] // Ctrl+Shift+Z

If the file is not in that location, go to “Program Files\Pixologic\ZBrush 2018\ZStartup\HotKeys” and use that file instead.

Thank you for the response
I am aware that some UI elements only show up under certain circumstances. That isn’t the cause of this issue.

Also, I figured out how to re-bind the undo and redo commands from within ZBrush, but I’m now finding that there are a few more commands that have become unbound for seemingly no reason.

I appreciate the work-arounds, but why are these things happening at all? I’ve never had these issues form ZBrush until 2018.
