Zbrush 2018 - Animating Person with a Sword Using T-master

Hello,

I have modeled a person and added a zsphere rig, he is holding a sword. I am having an issue i do not know how to fix.

As i move the person’s arm, the sword itself starts to “melt” across the screen as if it has been weighted with the person. How do i make it so that sword stays 100% the same model but just moves with the arm as i animate it using the rig?

Is using the rig even the best way to go? Ultimately i would like to re-use the document and re-skin the sword / person so i have consistent animations but different variations of weapons.

Long story short, I would like to be able to animate the majority of the model without the automatic weighting (if that is indeed what is causing the issue).

I found that ZSphere rig doesn’t work well with unwelded mesh. Maybe you need to add more zspheres to handle this move?

I’m not sure if you will make that complicated animation inside zbrush. You can try manually fix it with layers but that is workaround.
