ZB 4R2 on Mac user menu from Tool palette doesn't save. Answered.

Hi All,

Been working with the new Zbrush and it is great!.
I noticed this little thing though, I’ve been making my custom menu’s and it saves them fine, but not when I put ui-stuff from the tool palette in it. When I restart ZB, that specific menu is empty.

I’ve tried three times now, with saving under different names but it always gives the same result.
I even made two user menu’s filled with buttons and sliders from the tools menu, thinking that maybe it somehow ‘forgot’ the last menu being created, but both menu’s came up empty when restarting ZB.

I also put the Dynamesh buttons in the top tray, next to the scale move and rotate buttons, and they are also gone when restarting ZB.

Maybe it is a user fault but I wouldn’t know what cause the other menu’s load fine (filled with stuff from the brush menu). If it’s not a user fault I hope you can fix it someday.

Cheers, Simon

Which particular items are you putting in your custom palette? Some, such as the scrolling lists of ZTools or Layers cannot successfully be placed into a custom palette.

Hi Aurick,

Thanks for replying to my thread.
I’ve made a quick screengrab to show the problem.
I have this problem both on my early 2008 Mac Pro and on my early 2011 Macbook Pro.
Let me know if you need anything more to troubleshoot this problem.

Cheers, Simon

OK, could you please save your UI and then take a screenshot of the contents of the ZStartup folder so that I can check to see if everything is in order there?

Thanks!

Here is a screenshot of the startup directory
I save the UI config file in users/documents/zbrush4R2/ directory by the way.

edit:
Just wanted to let you know that it does work in ZB 4, but not in ZB 4R2.

Download the UIStarter ZScript located at the bottom of the ZBrush 4R2 Troubleshooting FAQ post.

Wow, thank you so much Pixologic for this really quick fix! :+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:small_orange_diamond:sunglasses:

Maybe make this thread a sticky?

Cheers, Simon

I just downloaded this file with firefox and it was cofusingly named “attachment”. But I figured out that renaming it to its real name “UIStarter_Z4R2_V1.zsc.zip” transforms it so you can unzip and use it. Just a tip.
