ZB 3.1 and Cinema 4D VRay Displacement?

Has anyone had any luck with Displacement transferred from ZB to Vray 4 C4D?

I’m not getting much joy. I am getting displacements but it is messed up along the edges.

Off hand, are you using any texture filtering such as mip-mapping or texture antialiasing? Have you tried offsetting the map slightly in the horizontal and/or vertical direction?

Yes I do. I haven’t used DE3 for the disp map as I have no idea what to use.

ZB Settings:

Texture - GUV Tiles
Displacement


  • Adaptive On
  • DPRes 4096
  • Mode On
  • Intensity 0
  • Mid 50
  • Flipped Vertically with “Max” selected in the Alpha palette.
C4D VRay Settings:

Basic VRay material
UVW Mapping
Displacement


  • Sampling MIP
  • Blur offset/scale 0%
  • Amount 6cm
  • Shift (I’ve tried alsort here from -6 to 6)
  • Keep Continuity - tried it on and off

Do not use MIP mapping or texture antialiasing. Those features cause information to be pulled in from outside the UV regions, which is very apparent with a displacement map.

I tried it without MIP mapping and it was the same, I don’t know where to disable texture AA within Vray though so I couldn’t try it without AA.

Do all my other settings look ok for use with Vray?
