ZB 2019 - Spotlight snapshot-to-mesh accuracy

I love the new Spotlight snapshot to mesh feature, but would like to know how to have the mesh follow the image more accurately. Here is the example I would like to follow:

As you can see, the little points and sharp corners get rounded off when the mesh is made. Is there a setting that I am not seeing, to adjust the accuracy?

I haven’t yet been able to dive into the new spotlight and cant say what the 3d mesh resolution is governed by, but I will draw your attention to a few controls in the preferences:

Preferences> Spotlight> Snapshot Smoothing, Snapshot Retain Corners, and Snapshot Detect Corners. It’s possible that one or more of these settings can be adjusted to give you results you’re happier with.

As an additional note, I will mention that Spotlight contains a lot of redundant functionality. If you cant get a result you’re happy with using spotlight and feel like providing more detail on what you want to do, there’s probably more than one way to do it.

Thank you! Yes, that does the trick: turn Smoothing way down, plus Detect Corners. I am just so inexperienced with ZB that sometimes I don’t know where to find what I need, even if I am certain that it is possible.

(Now to turn a lot of my collected B&W images into meshes!)

So happy to hear it! I’ll also just point you to the Alpha> Make 3D function, an older feature that does largely the same thing, and can be adjusted with a resolution slider in that menu. It may achieve different results if you need an alternative.

True, but the new abilities (Union/Subtraction) gives it a whole new level of functionality. Being able to edit the alpha image inside ZB is a huge step, at least for me…

Of course. Just pointing out that there is more than one way to skin this particular cat.
