Zapp Link reloading Photoshop File

Hi,
I used Zapplink to clear the converging issue in Sphere texturing, but accidentally ZBrush shut down and is there any way to reload my Photoshop file again into Z brush? Since i worked on the texture for 3 hrs , a method to reload the photoshop file to Zbrush will be helpful

Thanks

I will assume you were regularly saving your work in both Photoshop and ZBrush. If you closed Photoshop without saving your file, then your work is gone.

You can open the original temp file in Photoshop (check under the recent files section if it has been closed), and then resend to Photoshop from ZBrush via Zapp link. It will notify you that the file has changed and do you wish to update it. Do not update the file, but rather force a save with the Save As option under the original “TempZApplinkexport” name. This may send all your information back with a minimum of fuss, but I have also encountered errors doing this. As a second resort, you can do the following:

If the work in Photoshop is still open, but ZBrush has closed, save your work in Photoshop under a different file name. ZApp link sends each file to photoshop under the name “TempZApplinkexport”. If you saved this file in Photoshop but have since closed Photoshop you can reload this file from the “recent file” section. Once open save it under a different name. If you have since modified this file under the same name without saving your previous work–for instance from sending a different file from ZApp link and then saving over it, then I’m afraid your work is gone.

If you were able to save the file under a different name then open it and resend your original file from ZBrush. The position of the model must be the same so it’s a good idea to always save your file immediately prior to sending to ZApp link. In the renamed file containing your original work select the paint layer then :

  1. “Select all”
  2. “Copy”
  3. In the new temp file sent from ZBrush select the paint layer then “Paste Special > Paste in Place”
  4. This will create a new layer containing your previous paint information. Select “Merge Down” and preserve the mask when it gives you an option to do so.
  5. Save the temp file so that it is sent back to ZBrush.
