Z2 and iBook G3 Problem

Hello is there somebody who can tell me why Z2 slows down after the first steps I’ve used it.
My iBook Specs: G3 900MHz - 600MBRam - 10GB free of HD space - 32Vram - MacOSX10.2.8

It appears normally before ZBrush2 shows the available memory information on the top of the ZInterface. Additionaly it is related to any of the tools that I use (alphas or material or and all the others).
I start Z2, paint on to the canvas and change the settings for material or alpha maybe want to create a new document and then uuouopps Z2 slowed down and it loks like frozen.

It helps me to use Z2 that I change often between the different interface mode (full ZScript view or full document or even the standard ) before I start to do anything with Z2. But I am still at risk to have this “frozen” problem.

Thanks for any help

Most likely, ZBrush is compacting memory. Have you set and saved your preferences to make use of the memory that you have, or are you still running at the default settings?

There is a complete list of Performance Tips that I recommend looking at.

I have an iBook 800MHz with the same freezing problem as described above. The iBook has 384Mb of Ram, plenty of HD space and runs OS10.2.8. I played around with the performance tips but they don’t seem to help. One sure way for me to freeze Z2 is to resize a document.

I would appreciate any help on this.

I looked through the performance tips already after I got Z2, just in case I could speed Z2 up. I have set the memory setting just below my full Ram (640MB) so that compacting of memeory wont be an issue.
I have also deactivated functions for example the marker (idea of reducing any more memory needed by Z2), but the problem still occurs after starting z2. As i wrote earlier it helps if i change the window modes from default to costum or to full zscript view and back and to full document and so on, and even then this frozen issue appears.

Is there anything else what it could be?

Next thing to try:

Disable all unnecessary extensions and restart the sytsm. Then test ZBrush out some more. This will let us determine if one of the extensions is causing this problem.

voolger,

try repair disk permissions. I had the same problem with Z2 you described. I also noticed that my iBook took longer to start-up and I repaired the disk permissions. All problems with Z2 magically disappeared.
Good luck.

I will try your tips and will see what they do to my iBook.

Thanks you both, aurick and Ebuijs, for help. It worked, and I am able to work with Z2 without frustration.
