Z-Brush/3ds Max Discussion

Hey people,

I’m currently writing a report on the merits of both Z-Brush and 3ds max and the impact Z-Brush has had on both the industry and the market and whether it marks a complete changing of the guard in terms of modelling style or just intergration into existing pipelines for companies/individuals.

It’d be a great help to hear everyone’s opinions on the subject really focusing on the modelling aspect of the two programs with a slight leaning on texturing as well, and how it could affect either you or your company!

Also if anyone has any official info on the stuff past general info on Autodesk’s website etc I’d be grateful for the links.

One thing I specially love in the relationship with Zbrush/max, is the use of the modifiers stacks.
Max is very efficient to preserve your assets, and its very helpful when you have modifications to do on characters, but keep you original mesh intact.
I used this particularity on Rainbow for the faces pipelines.

Using always the same base mesh in zbrush, and beeing able to keep the same point order even in Max (despite further midification storded in the stack) allow very effective workflow to exchange assets between those 2 applications.
I found it a bit more difficult in otehr applications…
