Yes, I'm new...a Daz question

Hello everyone. I’m new so please forgive what’s probably obvious. I imported a genesis 2 model from Daz using GoZ. The model’s there but I don’t see the textures. Its that red wax. The same thing happens when I use the FBX importer so it’s obviously me. I want to see my superhero like I do in Daz. Oh and if you’re answering, please assume I’m not very bright.

Thanks.

Textures don’t GoZ across with DAZ figures because they have overlapping UV’s and ZBrush only has one texture channel. You need to import the textures manually to each body part.

…well: you might try it this way >>>

GoZ from Studio to ZBrush
inside ZBrush (with the red waxy thing drawn on screen) goto poygroups and select uvGroups.
With Shift-f you will see the polygroups (according to the uv Goups) of your model.
Make sure that only MRGB is selected.
Using the Geometry menu bring up the polycount to something around 2 to 4 millions.
CTRL-Shift click on the head (or any other) polygroup of the model.
import the suiting texture from your DAZ installation (you will find the path under the surface tab of Studio)
Open the polypaint menu and hit polpaint from textures.

You will have to do these steps for every part of the UV/Texture map from DAZ.
TIPP: if you can manage to only/mostly use figures from the Gen8 group all of this is considerably more easy then with all other V’s and M’s (not that many parts of textures).

Ans (forgot, sorry): you can change at any time from red wax to any other material you like (without killing the texture).

Have fun …
Another important part: delete the eyelashes in Studio (before GoZ), and use some colored spheres for the eyes (delete the DAZ eyeballs inside ZBrush).

If you bake the texture you can import it without worrying about Daz subgroups (I think that’s what they’re called) interacting with polygroups. Do this for the body textures.
