Xrayunwrap V1?????

Has anyone seen or heard or even managed to buy from this company…http://www.raylightgames.com/xrayunwrap/xrayunwrap.htm ???
I paid for the plugin with paypal they took the money from my bank and they didn’t send me the link to download the plugin. I’ve tried emailing them three times and they’ve not even bothered to respond to me. I can’t even register to querie this on their own forum? Has anyone else experienced this with them? Is this company fake? Please anyone advise.

no clue on that company

jease just use blender’s unwrap - xrayunwrap just implemented in max.

it is awesome though - i never unwrap in max anymore - particularly since they ‘upgraded’ in max2009.

you’re just 8 hot keys away from not having to pay for it.

Well… if they didn’t refund after 48 hours… then they are either in summer vacation or you lost your 5 euros. Consider it as a donation to a stranger…

This here is undisputed the BEST UV solution EVER:

PS:there is a good chance paypal refunds.

Thanks guys for your input. I have now opened a dispute with paypal security centre hopefully they can facilitate communication between me and xraygames. I’ll let you know what comes of this. Cheers.

Yeah looks a bit weird but they could just be in their holidays aswell.
Googling the software resulted in lots of torrents and such.
If they dont send you a download link just steal it somewhere.
After all you payd for it

Meanwhile you can also try this:

Thanks guys, while I wait I played a bit with “lscmunwrap” thanks Christian for the link, but I find it’s not perfect, must be me? And thanks Lemonnado for the link to headus uvlayout, I’m trying that also and find it to be very good. Still waiting to hear from raylightgames, untill then a learning curve with headus uvlayout. so far so good.

No dont worry,it is not you,Lscm unwrap script is far from perfect.
There is also Roadkill that is cool :http://www.pullin-shapes.co.uk/page8.htm

Good news, thanks to paypal I managed to contact raylightgames through the resolution centre. Raylightgames responded with… an ftp address to download the plugin. They merely responded with…
Many thanks for supporting us and your patience, see you to the next release!

Best Regards

I would have expected an explanation for them not returning my three emails, but at least I got the plugin now and it works very well. It does a very good job, much quicker than headus uvlayout. You just layout your seams and click unwrap! So far I’ve just tested it on a torso, I’ll keep playing. Thanks to all who responded to this thread I appreciated your advice.

No way will it be as good as headus!
Headus is a god!
But the price is also a lot higher

Edit: Wohoo 1000 posts or 1001 after editing ??

Edit: Still 1000 wohoo!

Disco Stu: Congrats on your 1000 posts! After trying headus uvlayout, it is a great program and very interesting to watch as it flattens the uvs, but this very act does make it slower than xrayunwrap as it is just one click after laying out seams. I’ll keep using both to see which gives best results.:+1:small_orange_diamond:D:+1:

A torso is a very simple structure. Try it with an ear or something with a more complex structure. And yes, it’s neat to see how the mesh is processed and actually… there is a reason behind that. The UV layout process is not an exact science and more often than not you will find yourself stopping the process before the automatic process would have finished. You need the control, and a ‘one click’ solution does not provide that. If you encounter cylindrical (tentacle) objects, then it is also essential to be able to adjust seams. In UVLayout you can pin down areas, and then scale rotate and translate UV’s right into position without gaps and visible seams later. UV’s in itself are not so difficult to grasp, it’s the unsolvable projection issue from a 3d volume skin to a flat 2d representation and all the compromises which come with it. Like geographic maps, there are quite a few way’s how to project the 3d body and the application demands the right choice or garbage will be the result. Try and use checkerboard textures to monitor your layout progress and you will see the issue pretty quick. Nothing worse than a neat model and he texture is all distorted in key regions.

Lemonnado: Thanks mate. I’m modeling a new figure now and will soon retop and use both uv layout and xrayunwrap to lay out the uv maps. After watching the help videos on headus site I’m learning to use the program pretty quick.

Hi DigitalDream,
i’m Fausto, Lead Programmer and shareholder at Raylight S.r.l.
I checked the log of our emails of feedback and i found that we tried several times to send you emails with all the details for downloading the plugin, but having no response or bouncing back.
I undestand all your bad thought about us, but i’m here to say that we know that taking care of our custumer is fundamental to go ahead in the business. We are working on new improved version of the plugin and to apologyze again i would be glad to have you in the beta testing program for the new and improved version of XrayUnwrap 2.0. We are going to integrate all the functionality directly inside base Unwrap UVW of 3dsmax. Have a great day,
Fausto

I just bought today.
I was alittle worried but at 5euros I thought the worst that could happen well…is Im gonna loose 5euros.
And to my great surprise I was sent a link to download the plugin in a matter of minutes.
So Im very happy:)
It got both LSCM and ABF++ which for 5euros is really a symbolic price.

would you like to see such tool implemented in zbrush?

Sure, but it is easier to select edges in Max .So if you would make a plugin for zb you would also need to add an efficient edge rings and loops selection system.
Maybe it would be hard work for you.

Is Headus’s UVLayout “Hobbyist” version worth it, or is Pro the only real choice? (Not sure I want to fork over three hundred beans for another dongle-ized piece of software.)

Opinions?

Kerwin - Looking to rid myself of Max’s UV tools forever, I bought the pro version of Headus about a month ago and I haven’t looked back since. The symmetry feature alone has been HUGELY beneficial for me. In fact, it isn’t even fair to compare Headus to the base UV tools in Maya or Max.

But if I had to…and if Headus is the Cadillac of UV tools, then Max’s UV tools are more like a base package Ford with manual windows and no AC.

faustus- Haven’t visited these forums in a while, just noticed your comments on this thread. Yes your appologies are accepted, I don’t know what happened to those emails but glad we got it sorted in the end, no hard feelings. I for one would like to see this tool implemented in zbrush, good luck with that. Also , yes I would be grateful to be in the beta testing for the new version. You can PM me for details. Thanks.
