Wondering how to Get nice hard edge overlapping straps?

Hey all I’m trying to figure out how to do leather straps like this: But I’m having a ton of trouble doing so. They either come out gummy looking if using dynamesh, the bevel/edge being uneven if using the Curve Strap, and if i make the straps as a separate tool first then use the matchmaker it only works up until I try to add them to the breast area, where it goes to hell. Any ideas/suggestions?

I’m not sure the “BEST” way, but I was able to create them using the zmodeler brush.
I pulled out a cube into a long strip.
used Sbend under deformation to wrap it around half her body.
Transpose scale to make it fit the shape of the rib cage better.
mask and trasnpose to move verts to fit the curve perfectly to the body
zmodeler to inset a polyloop to create the ridge.
zmodeler to insert edgeloops to square off the shape as a whole.

2 weeks ago I could not have done this. I did this tutorial and now I can.
