Wonded Ork

Hi, this is my recent creation, and I thought that this is the right place to post it. I worked the base mesh through max and zbrush. Then all the maps for detailing it further was done all in zbrush. Renderd in max and composed in digital fusion. Feel free to post your opinion!..Dorian-Bushi_Wonded_Ork_BW.jpg

I can’t believe this hasn’t any replies yet…this is amazing…I LOVE IT. Great Image Dori3d

Amazing job mate!!! Very nice i love it! I would like to see a coloured version too though… Keep it up id like to see more stuff uve one!:+1:

Well, thank you guys(mattybyng, LIQUIDSNEEK, meletis) for replying and posting your opinions for my image. I’ll post some WIP’s later showing some aspects of the crearion for this image!..

This isn’t good it’s great  I love the mood and the expression, some parts are really successful(head and environment), some parts bring it down a bit(the shoulder especially, it looks normal mapped and too harsh). Great work overall, are you going to make a colored version? Sometimes I prefer grayscaled to color.

Thanks x-titan for your opinion. I agree, you noticed most of the details are from normal maps, and it can help in most of the time but I believe it can’t replace the role of displacemet maps. I experimented with displacement maps but due to the fact I render it with brazil render, it gives me some wired results. Finally I decidet to apply only normal and bump maps, they tend to render a lot faster.

Here are some wips during zbrush work!

Thanks Jason for replying.
Hi lemonnado, for now hunting season is over, nex time, shotgun time!..

Great image friend. Can you show me how connected the bump maps in xsi, and if this is a displacement map? thanks friend. congratulations

Try adding another sub-division and smoothing out some of the rough areas, that should help with the harsh look of the normal map, also try lowering the intensity a little, not too much. If it’s still pixolated try using a higher res map. Great work I really do like it

nice scene and the dried out orc
oh and, did u miss the lower part of the body, its really smooth like it wasnt finished

Thank you for your replyes.

DAVESTEEL: I dont knoe how to explain that in XSI, because I work in 3dsMax.

x-titan: I had a little problem sculptin it in zbrush, because I used the mouse. Recently got a wacom, and of course the detail can be enhanced further.

ciroman: yes, it need’s more work on the lower body.

Awesome render… he looks like he’s in excrutiating pain… Very nice model as well. :+1: :+1:

I’ve been meaning to get a wacom also. But for now it’s the mouse for me :frowning:

SolidSnakexxx: thanks for appreciating my work.
x-titan: I encourage you to get it. A wacom is the best tool for tiny and fine details.

Ok, here is the colored version of my “Wonded ork”. Opinions are welcomed!..

Hey looking good. :+1:
Needs some motion blur and depth of field. (On the Character)
Once you do that I think you got yourself a winner here.
