Wire Head

[WireHead2.jpg](javascript:zb_insimg(‘37698’,‘WireHead2.jpg’,1,0))

I’ve always enjoyed Meats Meier’s “Wirestyle”, so while at SIGGRAPH I decided to work on a little project. Most of my time was answering questions, but whenever I had a few free minutes I’d tweak the image a little bit. Here’s the finished result.

You’ve got a Human in your Mesh!

I like the snake like things! Great idea.

And nice meeting you!

While I can’t help but admire Meier’s ‘Wirestyle’, sometimes I think his compositions become swamped with the technique rather than good solid sculpting work. I think this has a nice balance of both though

Nice work mate  Looks like somthing straight out of a gallery!

Aurick…

Very nice…always enjoy when you share, and this times no different.

I’m going out on a limb here, and I don’t want to start a frenzy if I’m correct, but are we witnessing the first “mesh extraction” piece here?

Word.

Thanks for the feedback.

This was done with ZBrush 2. No new features at work.

However, 2.5 would make this technique even easier. With 2, you have several steps after masking the model (such as hiding and deleting points, storing a morph target, executing a deformation, and finally creating a difference mesh). With 2.5, you mask the area and then Extract. Done!

(You lucked out there. I can’t talk about 2.5’s new features, but in this case the answer is exactly what was shown in the SIGGRAPH videos.)

You teasing so-and-so!

Hey Aurick

How dare you have fun when you have a book to get out!

Just kidding, am sure you are quite done with it by now

Anyway…it’s nice to see some work from you again.

Hope ya have more time soon to play…Enjoy.

Well…you should get out more often!

Seems we’ve got a paradox here !, …or did you just talk about Mudwrestling ?

Good to see something new from you, Matt. Great work, I especially like the curly springs and things. :+1:

How did you do the curly Q’s ?

Good old Helix3D. It’s amazing what you can create with it once you start fiddling with the Initialize curves.

To echo every thread here:

  1. Fantastic meeting you at last.
  2. Is this hookey from the book?
    3. You should get out/post more often!

At this point I smack myself on the head and say, “duh!”

BTW, cool head.

wow amazing job, really whiling to learn how to do it, the curves look preety smoth…very nice

Good old days when Rick was on our side :frowning:
