WIP's Raptor & Dragon

Looking to get some feed back and opinions on some of my WIPS.

Comments are welcome.

First off is a Raptor. Base mesh in Maya, detailed and textured in Zbrush. I still need some more texture detail on the claws eyes and tongue, and a few other little bits and pieces.

Thanks in advance for any critique.

marvelous work O.o…makes me shiver in envy good job

I’m liking the colors. The dragon sculpt is sweet! Gr8 job! :+1:

yes good work

Both are sweet. BTW…any hints about your technique used on the dragon to get those wings? The skinning of wings pwns me every time.

:+1: :+1:

wow nice work on the texture for the raptor. it looks very good.
I do have a critique but you’ve already done so well i dont know if i should say anything XD

ok ok, you might have noticed this yourself, maybe not, but your dragon has no spine. If you look at any dragon pictures, or dinosaur pictures, they usually have some sort of spinal column, bumps or grooves. your dragons back is smooth like a snake. Even so, it looks very believable.

as to the question about the wings on the dragon. Take a high res photo of a patch of skin, face, whatever (i mean HIGH res). Bring it into photoshop, desaturate (CTRL-Shift + U) and adjust the levels so that its just white with black lines (you may have to play around with things, brightness/contrast, saturation, levels). once you have the wrinkles ready cut out a 256/512/etc size chunk that you like and save it, open Zbrush and select it as your alpha. paint away. I think Zbrush has a couple brushes like this in the default alpha library, take a look, they might have what you need already. if not, make a handful of these wrinkle patches and alternate them in your sculpting to get realistic creases, wrinkles, veins, etc.

Good works!

Just wanted to throw an update out there. Sorry that I didn’t get back to any questions or comments earlier.

Would love some opinions on the texture I just finished up for the dragon.

Thanks for all the previous great comments
As for the skin of the wings. The wing membrane is actually a doublelayer of polygons. It was a huge pain in the ass to rig and weight, in maya, but seemed logical for different colors on the top and bottom of the wing membrane. I still have polish them further everytime i move the wing at all. Probably one of the biggest sink holes in this project.
