Hey - my second attempt at a character in ZB, had ZB installed for 3 weeks now and I’m in love (and overwhelmed!) with the amount of cool options available.
Its based loosely on a few photos of William Burroughs, I started a head tutorial in the excellent Eric Keller book and then started to model the face on 'ole Uncle Bill. The head got corrupted slightly and was pretty naff so i had a go at retopologising, made some mistakes, thats how ya learn! The retopology thingy is insanely good, can see that being used a lot by me.
So, being impatient I thought i’d try rendering how it looks at the moment in Max9 using mental ray and a flat skin hued textured just to see how its going. Stuck some “glasses” (torus) on him and a hat (Cylinders) quickly. Its proved really helpful as i’ve realised his nose is too wide at the bridge and a million other awful mistakes too.
Cant wait to get more wrinkles on to him and then attempt some polypainting etc and maybe even try out the normal maps stuff.
Oh, and eyes would be a bonus but gotta figure out how to work on seperate objects in ZB yet. Love it!
Bear with me, i’m an environment artist and this character stuff is something ive always wanted to do, I tried doing a Hendrix model in Silo and that came out kinid of ok a while back but had no time since.
Any crits etc welcome! Thanks from a keen noob
