WIP:The JAWS effect: Carcharadon Bruceadon Carcharius

This is a character design of Peter Benchleys Great White Shark From the book JAWS.It was described in the first few pages, that it was so old if it stopped moving it would fall to the bottom of the ocean and die.It did do exactly that in the book.

I am also team leader on cgtalk with the Collaborative team projects thread.

If you have the time, here is the link.

My team are working on a short Jaws fan film called Quints song.So the shark is to be animated.

My Great white & Jaws hobby brought me to the Natal Shark Board in South Africa by the way of introduction of Chris & Monique Fallows(apexpredators) they are world renown Great White Shark experts and makers of Air Jaws 1 & 2.
Dr Geremy Cliff at Natal gave me unprecedented pictures of detailed close up pictures of 2 great white sharks. They were taken out of the freezers by six large gents and I got a whole hi rez cd sent to me.Which made me smile a lot at the time.Alpha brush texture heaven.

I will start at the upper teeth 13/13

Then the lower teeth 12/12

This is the first pass on the upper teeth right.
Then details to be added.
Then upper teeth left.
Then lower teeth/left/right.
Then the upper and lower jaws
Then finally the body.
2 extra additions not on a white shark but essential details.Remorina albescenes (aka white suckerfish).
Thanks for reading my first post.
This might be a long sculpt.

Theses are the upper teeth inserted into the left side upper jaws, and also a view from above on the under palette.

I have started to sculpt the replacement teeth below the top with alphas of the top teeth.
I have also used real great white shark alphas of the gum detail at the rear of the palette.

I thought sharks had thickand round teeth, anyway will all of them be even wisible with the whole model ? ;]

Well Great White Sharks teeth are designed triangular not round.Depends on what angle we need to shoot at,so better be safe than sorry.

thanks

Na theyr teeth are almost like paper… with the little twists that its
rip you apart razorsharp paper^^
Saw it on tv that they break off really quick but its no problem for the sharks
as they just grow back up.
Nice work is it for some kinda scientific illustration or why are you
making so many different teeth?

Its for a fan film we are making called the Jaws effect

and some people I have known for a little while Chris and Monique Fallows of the air jaws 1 & 2 fame & some guys at the Natal shark board in South Africa, know ive been wanting to do a as real as Great White for some years as it has been a hobby for many more.
White sharks have 13/13 on the top row(they appear in the orders of the numbers)
and 12/12 on the bottom .
I guess i want it to be accurate, and having people who know, has been a great help to me.At least they are done and out the way, just a few little impact marks to put on them.

A way to go.

thanks

Awesome! I definitely respect the time you have put into studying the teeth alone. I’ve always been fascinated with these beasts. Looking forward to the final
