WIP - Quasit

Hello,

Here you found my WIP from a Todd Lockwood original illustration (http://www.toddlockwood.com/), from the “Forgotten Realms” (Dungeons & Dragons). That’s my 2nd “serious” attempt to create something with Zbrush, and I have few questions :

1- how do you make hands with Zspheres ?
When I try to make fingers on the main Zsphere (wrist/palm), the “mesh” is not clean. Zspheres seems to interfere the ones with others. For the Quasit, I make only one Zsphere, that I push/pull to obtain something who seems to be hands.

2- what are the differences between Unified skin and Adaptative skin (for the moment, i only use adaptative skin) ?

3- is it possible to select more than 1 group in the same time in polygroup mode ? how ? (ctrl+shift)

Thank you.

Hi…looks good so far!

  1. there are plenty of threads showing how to do hands…a quick search on hands or a quick scan in the tutorial forum will get those for you.

  2. Unified skin…is like skin in that it conforms to the zspheres and its a higher rez mesh and while you can divide it you cannot move up and down in levels. Adaptive skin is lower rez…and allows you to subd so you can work it in many levels. That’s basic…someone here will probably explain it much better.

  3. You can select more than one group. ctrl-shift/click on the first to select it then outside your model ctrl-shift drag to show the parts you hid…then ctrl-shift click on the next group you want to work on at the same time. You might have to at this point do the ctrl-shift drag thing outside your model again to return to the parts you want to work on…i don’t have it in front of me now to double check.

  1. (…) a quick search on hands (…)

Ok, I must play with Xres, Yres, Zres (or Ires)

And ok, I understand how to select several groups now.
Thank you.

Oh yeah…I forgot to mention since have already created your model that adding zspheres will lose your detail so you may want to add hands in another app for that guy.

Also there is a useful zscript you can find by search called XYZadjust that will allow you to adjust the rez after the fact you have already created all your zspheres…you might find useful…either for this guy or future works.
