WIP : A turtle.

Hey folks,

Here’s a little something I’m working on… I don’t really know what’s going to happen with this guy… but I do plan to build a complete scene for it to sit in. The turtle itself isn’t finished, but I’d be glad to hear from you. What do you think ?

Awesome turtle! I love the head!

Thanks.

Here’s an update. I started to work on the surface detailing of some parts, and re-shaped the shell a bit.

Again, I’d be more than happy to hear from you guys.

I think you are missing the mid-level detail. You’ve got some good small detail and i really like all the large shapes, but there is nothing in the middle. Things like the shell lines could be cut in deeper, maybe give him some scales on his nose and stuff like that. Ill link a few google images to show what im kinda talking about. I really think that adding some mid-level forms will help.

as the above poster said, think you missed a step, get the standard brush, turn on lazy mouse with 1 point length, and throw in some mid smaller forms

I will give that suggestion a third. Overall, I like where you are going with the shapes and the wrinkles on the face are nice, but he is a bit smooth. I can see that you are going for a cartoony look, which I personally use as my style, but more details won’t take away from that. It’s almost like you had put those details in, but then smoothed them back.

Thanks a lot folks. That’s precisely the kind of feedback I was hoping for. Indeed… I’m going for something like a cartoonish look, and I’m somewhat struggling with how much detail I should put in to be happy… I’ll continue to work and keep you posted.

Thanks again.
