Will my laptop run ZBrush?

Hello all. I’m looking into trying out ZBrush. I’ve been a professional miniatures painter for quite a few years now, and the industry is rapidly moving towards digital sculpting. Instead of branching out and sculpting models traditionally, my employer wants me to try ZBrush. My question is “Will my laptop run it?”. I will admit I’m pretty computer illiterate as far a specs go. I’m fairly certain the answer will be “no”, but I’m hoping I won’t get laughed at or chastised for asking.

I have a Toshiba Satellite - Here’s my specs.

Intel®Pentium® CPU 2020M @2.4GHz 2.4GHz
6gig of RAM with (5.88 usable)
64bit OS

I have 400GB of hard drive space available, so the size of the program won’t be an issue. I have had no problems running anything from Adobe CC, or Corel. Sculptris is also perfectly fine. I’m only looking to sculpt and produce 3d files for printing. Will what I have suffice? Thank you so much for you time and consideration.

Jess

Hi Jess,

You should be ok. I’m not sure how your cpu will perform, but I can run Zbrush on my 2008 macbook pro, which only has a 2.5ghz Intel core 2. It’s not super slick, but its fine. I only notice how slow it is when i compare it to my desktop.

6Gb of RAM should be enough, as ZBrush is a 32bit app, so uses a max of 4Gb.

As long as you don’t try to keep things like CS6 open in the background, you should be alright.

Thank you so much for the information. Just purchased moments ago.

My HP laptop has similar specs to yours (slightly bigger HD) and runs ZBrush very well. So I think you should be fine with your setup.
