Why when I append a primitive , the Initialize palette does not have all the options available

I Would like to append the Sweep profile 3D primitive into a project and have all the options in the Tool / Initialize palette, the main option for this primitive, the graph that lets you adjust the profile of the shape.

But I found for example If you open the Zbrush sample Dog Project, then append the sweep profile primitive, the graph is missing from the Initialize palette.

I only see all the options in the Initialize palette if I open a blank zbrush, then append the primitive.

Why is this ?
initialize

Hello @Zolly,

The default primitives in the tool menu aren’t meshes, so much as they are adjustable blueprints for a mesh. You would need to use “Make Polymesh 3d” on the object in order to convert it into an actual mesh that can be edited by the full range of tools in ZBrush.

The options in the initialize menu are only available if the mesh has not yet been made into a PM3D object. Once the mesh is in this form, it can no longer be adjusted in the same way. When you append a primitive into an existing tool, it is automatically converted into a PM3D mesh.

You would need to select the sweep primitive and adjust it as desired in the initialize menu, make a polymesh 3d object out of that, and then append that PM3D mesh into the tool.

Good luck!

Thanks Spyndel.

When i add primitives to my project it autmaticaly converted to PM3D_etc. I did not press “make polymesh3d” button. In new scene all primitives are adjustable as it should be. But i wanted to continue working with my project to adjust, scale etc those primitives to my existin model. How to disable automatic conversion to PM3D for new addet primitives?!

(late reply) I had this issue, I was appending meshes from the Subtool menu which will automatically become a PM3D. To get a primitive you need to access the meshes from the “Tool” menu
