Why my zbrush alpha file open as texture?

I recently downloaded ZBrush alpha files at the Zbrush homepage. when I open that alpha files. It applies as a texture. So I have to change it as an alpha file every time.

I had tried to export that files as alpha again. But even after that still opened as texture. Please help me to change my alpha files.

(It only happens to those files downloaded at ZBrush homepage)

How are you opening the files? Alphas are imported via Alpha > Import.

If double-clicking from Lightbox, color images will be sent to texture, greyscale PSDs will go to Alpha.

I had opened it via Lightbox.
I open it via Alpha > import it works. But I want to open Alphas via Lightbox.

Alpha files that I mentioned seem like greyscale PSDS file like others (But probably they have some color information). Is there any way to delete that information and make them complete Alpha files?

Hi @JaechanGwon

If you use Photoshop, and under “Image > Mode” you select Grayscale, then it will ask you if you want to discard color information. Any Image app will probably do this. If it doesn’t then it will probably just remove color information without a warning like Corel Photo-Paint does. Also, if it’s 8 bit, then change it to 16 bit. ZBrush will use both 8 and 16 bit, but if you can have 16 bit, why bother with 8 bit.
