why is the FBX exporter so slow?

I am struggling with the fbx exporter: for some reason, even if I have selected “export visible”, the fbx exporter is switching through all the other subtools, taking ages until it finally exports the selected subtool

why does it have to waste time switching through all the other subtools?

after playing around a bit, I found out, that exporting “selected” is way faster than exporting “visible” - (as long as you just need to export one subtool)

I’m afraid the plugin doesn’t have access to subtool visibility without checking each one.
