Why is clay tubes not working on this particular subtool (shoulder pads)?

I’m trying to learn Zbrush by doing Nikolay Naydenov’s Absolute Beginners Zbrush course.

I modeled these shoulder pads along with him and after adding some spike he went back a put some dents in the pads (see below).

When I tried the brush hardly affected the pads. It must be a geometry issue? Cause the chest plate is doing the same thing.

I can use clay tubes and dam standard on the legs and arms.

I’m not sure what the issue is. Let me know if I should add some additional info or if I can make something more clear. Thanks!

Looks like you need to subdivide your meshes and perhaps increase the brush Z-intensity. Nikolay’s point count on his selected subtool is 655k. Yours is 560, a thousand times less. You are not going to get the deformation you want from the clay brush with so little topology. Your leg subtool has 26k points so you can see some clay brush action but maybe not as clean as you want.

Hard to say what Z-intensity Nikolay is using. It shows 100 but he has the smooth brush active in the snapshot so the clay brush could be quite different.

Thank you. Appreciate that
