Why does my ZBrush disallow basic *Import* from its own folders?

  • [INDENT=3]Why are the import alpha files in ZBrush’s own folders grayed out preventing import

  • [INDENT=3]I followed the prescribed Alpha’s Import protocol and in order to experiment creating fine freehand calligraphy in ShadowBox using ZBrush’s own Pen tools because they appear to offer the kind of calligraphy-friendly brush paths I would want to use. When I hit the Import button on the Alpha Palette the customary folders search panel opens up, then I activate ZBrushOSX 4R6 folder, then go to & activate ZBrushes folder, navigate to Pen folder ,BUT the damn Open button is all grayed out so I am totally prevented from accessing ZBrush’s own pen tool folder. Matter of fact I find ALL of ZBrush’s ZBP brushes in their respective folders are grayed out and thus totally inaccessible. What the hell is this? I hate when following instructions only to find that the program fails to deliver after following its own prescribed protocol. Don’t tell me some assembly required to activating something as simple as a brush import which should perform straight-forwardly. Obviously this ain’t in the manual , I’m thoroughly frustrated because I just want to actually get some work done having already outgrown the already provided alphas for the simple brush tool ( yes, all else works just as it should right out of the download ) ,and I’m left wondering out loud just what custom UI work-around back-flip slight of hand did I miss?
  • BTW: I’m desperate to get an answer to this in order to determine if my download of ZBrush from Pixologic is possibly corrupted because this is not the only unexplainable misbehavior I’m getting with my recent authorized download of 4R6 P2 I’m being driven up a wall over. How can I properly learn to use ZBrush if it won’t perform as advertised according to the dozens upon dozens of tutorials , including ZBrush Classroom and the manuals offer no course of action as no discription of these mounting misbehaviors exist. I’ve been viewing and taking copious notes aided with screen shots from these tutorials. I’m keeping a log of all of these non-sequitur misbehaviors and they are mounting much to my frustration. As a matter of fact I am even prevented from the uploading of simple screenshots
showing what I mean to this web forum. Every .png screenshot is grayed out and I have had zero problems importing same desktop images .jpegs into my licensed copies of Photoshop & After Effects. Need to know why would ZBrush fail to recognize it’s own folder files for import? I suppose an urgent tech support request will be next if I cannot get an answer here.
