Why aren't UDIMs coming in correctly?

So I’ve got a model that covers 12 UDIMs or something. I’ve watch tutorials on working with UDIMS in maya and when you morph the UVs it looks something like this: https://i.imgur.com/E4otKJg.jpg

You can see that all the UVs are laid out across different tiles.

But when I import a part of my model with multiple UDIMs and morph the UVs, it looks like this: https://i.imgur.com/SwQlY1y.jpg

I grouped subtools by UV so you can see the different colors are all stacked on top of each other. What’s going on? Did I miss a step somewhere?
