hey zbrushers…or zbrusheryes…or what have you. i was wondering what app or program people use to make their uvw maps. 3dsmax is the program i use and it has a automatic unwrapper that is garbage. normally i go through and unwrap every bit of my models by hand however slow it may be at times. i was wondering if there are any good “free” apps out there that are helpfull in the unwrapping stage of modeling and texturing.
Blender will allow you to unwrap UVs www.blender.org.
Open source, available for Windows, OSX, Linux.

if you don’t want to learn all of blender you can just download roadkill UV. It uses the blender unwrapper (great for inorganics) and is only a UV unwrapper.
Takes all of 5min to learn and it’s free.
