Who is going to see ZB3 in action tomorrow at Gnomon?

Just wondering how many of you people are going to Gnomon studios to see ZB3 in action? I was wondering if people that did attend can talk about what they have seen openly in this forum. For me like many they cant go so it would be great to get some feed back.

…free for the RealSoft 4.25 prog ? (free also)
Thx by advance

>> = just follow the links on the site (the page doesn’t have a direct link?)
hopefully less:confused:

Heh… why did you guys just derail his thread? Pretty rude

Anyway, anybody who attends the Gnomon workshop will be able to talk about it, so I’m sure we’ll all be seeing a lot of transcripts, write-ups, and youtube videos before the weekend is out

It did some what confuse me just a little lol. Yes I hope to hear and maybe even see somthink about the first public showing of zbrush3. I know there cant be and recordings done but as long as it can be freely talked about thats good enougth for me. I suppose the things on my mind are, how fast are these new tools to use when shown live, and is there any hidden features that havent been shown till april 1st.

sorry tez:o

No probs markkens, dont look like anyone is interested anyway lol.

I think that he accidentally replied to this thread rather than posting an new one.

Anyway, a presentation on April Fools day? hmm…

bill that is exactly what i thought, april fools, guess we’ll see

well, here’s hoping that some info from the gnomon event will filter down here. scott spencer of Gentle Giant Studios will be showing how to use ZB3 for conceptualizing digital maquettes aswell as remeshing it into an animation ready model. this would give good insight of the zb3 workflow, so information from this presentation would be delicious indeed.

I too was pretty upset in coming in here to expect Gnomon Z3 news and found it going elsewhere.

I too am waiting for news and would love to hear what people saw.

Its 2:56am here and iv been scanning the net for any info, lol im a crazy man. Be good to hear about the perspective camera.

All of it seems so awesome…I only recently saw Ryan Kingslien’s videos from Siggraph. I had no idea how great the new version will be.

Where is Gnomon? Maybe it’s not over yet. Pardon me if I sound ignorant…I am when it comes to these events

Every time they do one of these it takes awhile for information to make it to the boards. So get some rest and don’t fret.

Hollywood!

Been way over.
I am feeling we will get an official vid sometime tomorrow.

just got home from the workshop. here are my impressions, in brief:

  • the transpose tool was amazing. he posed a big ogre very quickly and easily and it looked great. he used it in conjunction with a new way of masking based on topology. the audience was loving it. we will be seeing so much more posed figurative artwork using these tools–pretty revolutionary stuff, imho.
  • the new default material was beautiful (the red one from the video). he also showed off a material that had some sort of built in cavity shading that was his new favorite material for modeling.
  • the subtool implementation seemed very smooth. with multiple subtools visible in the viewport, he could hover the cursor over any one and make it active (so it would receive brush strokes) or toggle visibility. he also imported a bunch of separate obj’s (monster, armor, teeth, etc) as tools and appended them into one tool (each obj becoming a subtool). was quick and easy.
  • ryan k. made a few cryptic comments about the interface in response to a comment made by an audience member. he was vague, but i got the impression that there was something secret in the works. he said something like, “we’re taking care of it”. sounded like a teaser to me, but who knows. i happen to like zbrush’s interface, for the record…
  • brushes had their own drop down menu and were removed from the transform panel. i still don’t get how all that works in z3, but he was showing off diffent alphas and strokes in full 3D (no PM) and it looked awesome.
  • he turned on perspective briefly at the end of the demo and said he could change the FOV, but didn’t use it much beyond that.

it was a great presentaion. there is plenty more to tell, but i’m too tired to write any more right now. forgive me if i have misinterpreted anything i saw today–i just want to give a bit of info to people who weren’t able to attend, not start rumors, etc.

really, the best thing about the presentation was seeing everything happening in real time. it all works. the layers, the subtools, the (unbelievably awesome) posing tools. it was smooth. no crashes. just major badass-ness.

Thank you.
Seems like the video all over again but with different content but I hope to get a fresh vid from them tomorrow.

MattSilverstein, Thankyou for your time to write this. You aswered one of my main questions already and that was, how well it all actualy works realtime.

Watching videos is great to show features but leaves some doubt that its as easy as shown, being ist speeded up, edited and prepared and riged before recording it.

I remember seing in the first trasform video the woman that was posed without masking off areas. Also there was a transparent material in use, it looked rather nice, I still have that video.
