Which Wacom to use for beginners?

Hi guys,

I using a mouse and keyboard to sculpt for sometime now and I’m willing to try a Wacom device.

But I sometimes feel that I won’t like it and would go back to using a M&K. I’ll be sculpting on a pad and viewing the results on my monitor (what sorcery is this?!!.)

I just have some questions.
What do you use?
How long did it take for you to get use to it?
Cons and Pros(M&K vs Wacom?)
Does it make sculpting better?
Any parts which gets finish and have to replace it (something like batteries?)
Which wacom products can be used for sculpting?
Wacom manga for sculpting? https://store.wacom.com/us/en/product/CTH480S2/

I wanted to buy a Pen Display but it’s just not in my budget.

Thanks for viewing!

It really depends on a few things. My biggest issue is space. I have a wacom bamboo, an intous 4 wireless, and I recently bought a Huion GT-220.

If space were not such an issue for me I would use the intous 4 all the time. As it is I tend to just use the M&K for Zbrush.

For applications where I don’t need to use the keyboard as much (Manga Studio for example) I use the Intous 4. I like the Huion and in fact I use that as my monitor when drawing with the Intous. But I guess I just got used to my hand not being in the way of the screen. That might change as I get more used to the Huion.

Wacom has nibs (the plastic piece that rubs on the tablet) that need to be replaced. Mine came with a bunch of them and I have not run out, They are pretty cheap to replace. The bamboo doesn’t have a battery, but the intous does. I believe the wired one is battery free, but I could be mistaken.

Huion GT-220 has a rechargeable pen.

Hope that helps.

PS I bought Zbrush with the release of 4r7 so I haven’t clocked many hours with it yet. Take what I say with a grain of salt.
