when i use the dam standard or even standard brush i cant seem to get as smooth cut

Hi anyone who can help me with this quick question -

umm i will try explain i am pretty new to zbrush and i have been following some of the tutorial like no more wine - with pretty good results i must add - zbrush is just so so SICK - not the puke type the awesome type as just revolutionary really …any i have this problem were i have my model on about 7/8 sub divide level and when i use the dam standard or even standard brush i cant seem to get as smooth cut into the model when making very fine detail - i have made the brush like about 3 and it just kind of pixalates the model when i go over and over it again to try and get it deeper , then i tried making it bigger but then i get the thin enough grove into the model …i dont know if that makes sense but also when i drag it sort of quickly it makes likes dots instead of a smooth line ,and it just does not seem fluid enough for me , does anyone know how to adjust that

thank you for any possible help and also does anyone know were i can get any more zbrush tutruils such ass the ones on this site …many thanks

the dotting comes from how zbrush applies strokes. a series of dots…same thing photoshop does actually.
anyway, you can’t go fast with the dam standard brush…or any of them really.
especially when working on a high subD level.

you need to think about what you want those details to be. Do they need to look perfect up as close as you’re actually looking at them when sculpting? can anyone ever get that close to your mesh? Will it be printed, a 2D image, 3D game model, VFX, etc.

Also, when you’re just working you don’t have any Anti-aliasing or smoothing groups applied to the mesh so you’ll see more “pixels” on your mesh.

when you’re checking the work you need to go into AAHalf (right hand side) or hit (ctrl+0…i think). Ctrl+1 goes back to normal.

If you can still see these things and they stand out, remember that you know what you’re looking at…walk away for 10min and come back. Or ask a friend to check it. If they notice it, then it is there, if they don’t…well, it’s all good then.

If you still can’t get the detail level that you’d like you’re going to either need to step up another subD level, split the mesh, or use HD sculpting.

Hope that helps.
