Whats the workflow to save configs then reload configs?

Hi all
I have my interface arranged as I want it and have saved out the configs.
I’m looking for the best way to utilise the configs for any foreseeable installs of Zbrush.

Do I just drop the config into the startup folder?

Hello @garbagematt ,

  1. Save your UI out as a separate file with Preferences> Config> Save UI. This is so you can recall the specific UI at any time if your configuration is lost.

  2. To have the custom UI load at startup, store the config with Preferences> Config> Store Config while the custom UI is loaded.

A word of caution. It is not recommended to port custom UIs created in an obsolete version of the program forward into a new major version (2022, 2021, 2020, 2019, etc). Porting it forward into point releases (2022.01, 2022.02, 2022.03, etc.) is usually fine. The truth is you can often do this without problem, but it is expected that sometimes the program will have changed in ways that makes older custom UIs problematic. If you experience issues with the UI in a new version of the program you will need to re-build them in the current version.

Thank you Spyndel.

I understand. This at least gives me the fundamental info I need, which is very helpful.
