I was wondering if someone could answer this: whats the difference between Geomtery:SUV and Displacement:SmoothUV. They seem to do the same, and if I would need to guess the difference would be that SUV is doing the same thing permanently applying the effect to the higher subdivision levels, where as SmoothUV does this only when exporting the displacement maps?? I happen to know that SmoothUV has a positive effect on how my preferred Renderer interpolates UV coordinates, but the question is, would it be even more beneficial enabling SUV as well, or would they have an Additive effect and would result in an undesirable outcome? Thanks
As I understand things, Geometry>Suv smooths the UV’s as you divide the model. Displacement>SmoothUV smooths the UV’s if your rendering engine needs it and you didn’t smooth them while dividing the mesh.
So basically, if you used Geometry>Suv you won’t need the other option. But if you didn’t use Geometry>Suv you may or may not need Displacement>SmoothUV.
