What's better when you want to make a lot of character?

Hi (^_^)

Hope I’m on the right topic…

I’m on a project to make a manga with characters making with zbrush (scene, weapon, and many other thing too…)
And my question is how must I work to gain the most of time and make all characters I want!

They can be male or female, huge, tiny, fat, skinny, without one leg etc… nothing it’s impossible!

I make a lot of search but I prefer to have good advice from you (^_^)
● I think about make a perfect zsphere model and start all with that (because I think that’s the easier way to custom the character )
● I think also with a base mesh… but I don’t know if it’s really efficient to custom directly… what do you think?
● I also think about using some software like poser or another (don’t know another one…and you?) But we have just realistic characters and I’m afraid to lose a lot of time to editing my custom guy to looks like what I want…

After all… I’m lost lol!

Can you help me please? (^_^)

PS : sorry for my English… I try my best but I make a lot of mistakes… :s

Nobody can help me?

Since I am not a very good at anatomical sculpting, I would use a base mesh generator. There is an add-on for Blender that can make anime humanoids (as well as realistic ones). Take a look at Manuel Bastoni Labs. (There seems to be a problem with the web site at the moment.)

hi! thanks for the answer ^^

there is a huge difference between poser and this addon?

I do not know if Poser can make anime characters directly like this one. Also, this plug-in is free.

Actually, Poser looks pretty good. I see there is support for anime and it can link to ZBrush via Go-Z.

Ok I will see that (^_^) thanks Agojrboddie you’re right, if it’s free it’s a good idea to look!

What’s Go-Z? It’s on poser or its an add-on of zbrush?

For you the better is to use one of this two software to make a lot of characters with a good quality, right? I think so too. Just hope that it’s fully customisable to have really different people in my story (^_^)

it may be a little bit late

  1. but you should create many base models.

  2. next you create the different characters.

  3. you should be able to move them around and create poses with them.-i gues that part could be less fun and frustrating at the beginning.

  4. if you see the new 2016 berserk anime if 3D you wonder why it looks so bad
-you need to think about why cartoons and anime are cartoons and anime
-real movie or 3D adaptions of an anime of cartoon are looking bad a lot of times
-you will have to exaggerate poses, emotions and perspectives to achive the same impact in your 3D render as a well drawn manga does.

  5. it will depend on your workflow and preparations, how much time you will spend on your 3D manga.-But i have have to say, i’m kind of curious, how a ZBrush made manga would look like

Hi Shumetsua! Thanks for the answer!

It’s exactly what I do (^_^)

For the render, I know that 3d anime looks bad most of time… but, I see a lot of beautiful manga style render and I work to copy it and also upgrade it!
I know that pose exagération is necessary and I think about that too… I don’t want to have a bad looking work as we can see…
I think about a lot of technique I can use to have what I want by post processing if I can’t do exactly the same in inner render… a lot of work but it’s necessary! (^_^)

You can follow Instagram.com/graphiperso if you want to have some news directly. (But I’m a little tired after a surgery… so I work mostly on theory for now :p)

i see that little tentacle arm monster.
i like the colors you used for him. it is made 3D with ZBrush but gives the feeling of old retro Spirte art. (just by the colors)

With the shading of the guy
i’m not a big fan of that. but i aw some really good comic shades which made me look twice to see that its really a 3D model and not drawn. (and i could rotate it live!)

I wonder what you will achieve with your work

If you have other technique I can test, I take it with pleasure (^_^)

For now I don’t find what I want… I really want to make a render like 2D manga and/or 2D anime … for now I just find some bad thing :s

maybe a bit of this:
http://www.zbrushguides.com/zbrush-comic-style-render-wips-and-tutorial/

i’m new to zbrush…but i know it should be possible with some renders or render shading options
https://cgworld.jp/feature/201601-cgw209-breetschlag-4.html (not zbrush but maybe some ideas or goals)

I already seen the first link and I’m testing it to have what I want, but it’s not so easy…

I don’t understand the second link, I don’t read Japanese :stuck_out_tongue:
