I keep getting this bug ever since zbrush 2, and it’s still happening,
when I open a ztool that I’ve been working on for a while, and hit d a couple of times, all of a sudden I get these spikes on my model that stretches out to infinity, they’re pretty annoying, and sometimes trying to operate on them just crashes zbrush.
Anyone knows what causes this?
Odds are that with Z2 you were saving the model at higher subdivision levels, rather than at level 1.
With ZBrush 3, I recommend that you use SubTool Master’s Save button rather than the one in the Tool palette.
For how to fix the problem, see here: http://www.zbrushcentral.com/zbc/showthread.php?t=16887
thanks aurick.
I’ve always saved with the subtoolmaster’s save button,
I think it automatically goes to the lowest subd level and saves, then returns you to the current level, right?
I have saved certain subtools while some parts are hidden before, but it wasn’t the ones that had the spike problem, could this cause it?
I have had those infinity spikes too.
I assume it happens when I quickly hide part of a model and work on it then cross over into an area that is covered.
Its not always noticeable until you get to the highest level so I always make sure to click on the canvas and get the model to its normal size.
I have never been able to erase one of those spikes either.
I have no idea what causes them but I always notice them way too late.
I just mask the main part of the model and use a giant move brush to nudge those far points back, then a ton of smooth does the job.
Not impossible to deal with but pretty annoying still.
Nowhere near as annoying as the OBJ export issues I’m having right now though.
Yeah this spike thing happens to me on a regular enough basis. No bueno.
