What the freaking hell is going on with the subtool thing?

So…
Yesterday I sculpted separetly two meshes or aka “tools”. I saved those tools and create new document where I put them together. I saved the document and now I can’t select any of those meshes. What does instead is when I use the brush tool I brush over the canvas and those two “tools”. The version of zbrush I use is 4R7
ANYONE PLEASE WHO CAN EXPLAIN HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO WORK ON THEM SO NO OBJECTS WILL BE CHANGED??

The Document is the 2D image of the workspace. Objects will have been “painted” there and cannot be edited. You should save the Project or individual Subtools. Hopefully, you have saved the subtools or you might find a version of your last project in the QuickSave folder.

If you start a project and draw out a subtool, don’t forget to go into Edit Mode (T) before trying to operate on it.

Either as joboddie suggests, or maybe you are just in Draw mode instead of Edit? Hit “T” and see if that brings you into Edit mode.

:o:o Thanks a lot. This helped me a lot to realise that Zbrush is more like a 2D to 3D versatile program rather than plain Program just Autodesk 3DS , Maya , Mudbox , Blender etc.
Also Another question; how do I separetly edit the tools in a single Canvas , under the subtool ?

You can only edit one subtool on the canvas at at time.

Select the subtool from the list in the Tool > Subtool Palate. The non selected tools will dim. Then work on the selected tool. Another way to select a subtool is to Alt-Click on a subtool on the canvas.

The Tool > Subtool Palate will let you control the visibility of any subtool by clicking on the eye icons. Alternatively, you can solo a subtool easily by clicking on the Solo Mode button on the lower right side of the canvas frame.

Thanks a lot
