What might be preventing Ctrl+Z hotkey from not working on certain tools only in 4R8

Here is some thing weird that just started happening with 4R8

I load up a tool I made, with which I was not having this problem days before, and now when I hit Ctrl + Z these hot keys don’t work.

Un dos are working because I can use the slider.

If I leave ZB open and load a tool where the hot keys do work like the tools that ship with ZB, then I reload my tool now the hot Ctrl + Z hotkeys work

???

Thanks

I’ve never experienced this. If there’s a history to undo, Ctrl-z works fine.

Is it possible that the tool in question has become dropped to the canvas (exited edit mode)? There is a bug in R8 that sometimes causes this to happen. You’ll get trapped in 2.5 d mode until you switch to another 3d tool and back. In this situation, Ctrl-z would appear not to work because the tool is no longer active 3d and no longer visually updating.

Thanks Scott, no not stuck in 2.5 D.

I am definitely having problems that I did not have in 4r7

I am finding that loading some tools I just made in 4R8 when I load them they cause the symmetry settings buttons I added to a custom menu to disappear!!

But if I go to the transform pallet I can activate symmetry fine with that tool.

If load some other tool first that aren’t causing problems , I as appending loading other tools , and finally I got the problem tool with the non broken cusom UI by some sequence of loading other things first, then I save as a project and I opens ok that way.

Some things weird.

How can loading a tool affect my custom pallets?

Were the palettes constructed in R7? It’s the official recommendation to rebuild any custom interfaces in R8, as some functionality has changed and some things may no longer work.

It was from R7 and I did that I rebuilt them, twice! (may be I should give them a new name as well) I thought I was going crazy until I realized it was the loading of the tool that was messing them up. Its weird how the file is affecting them, If there was something about the model that some how wouldn’t allow the symmetry buttons to show up, then you would think they would be grayed out on the Transform palette. But that’s not the case. The tool only affect the symmetry buttons in the custom pallet and they are not grayed, they are gone but a space is left where they were in the pallet.

Thanks,
Susan
