I would please like to know what method was employed in this very short video where someone wrapped what I think is an IMM brush around a cylinder in one single action.
Is the first sutbool an IMM brush? How did he wrap it around the cylinder so swiftly? And it if it was some kind of insert brush, does it have to be made in a certain way before it can wrap around a cylinder?

They hide a portion of the mesh, which allows them to frame the visible borders (Stroke: (Curve Functions) Frame Mesh, the shortcut key is ‘7’ on my machine - I forget if that is the default for it). Since this creates the curve for them, all they need to do is click on it to insert the shape around it. You shouldn’t need to do anything fancy to the IMM brush, just make sure that Stroke: Curve Mode is active.
