What is your background?

I am just wondering what is the backgrounds of people on this site, alot of you seem to come from a traditional sculpting background. Am I right?

And if this is true do u find that that background makes life easier in zbrush?

definitely alot of amazing sculptors here
i come as an abstract painter
my paintings got too large for my dwelling
and zbrush is a great tool and i do not have to clean brushes
afterward
good question:+1: :+1: :+1:

Traditional mediums. Oils, acrylic, pen, pencil, etc… Have not touched any clay in over 30 years. Played with 3D. Hated things like Lightwave and then I found ZBrush. Whole new ballgame. A genuine artists tool as opposed to tools more akin to drafting tools. As I recall I did not have to spend years learning to use clay or a brush. I just picked them up and out came art. The instruction refined my skills but had nothing to do with ability. From what I’ve read that Pixologic has written about it he wants to close that gap between art and the computer. He is getting that accomplished.

It’s nice to see another person who likes abstract. I’ve posted a little here but nothing very serious. Maybe with this new tool its time for things like Abstract and Cubism to enter the computer realm?

I hope this leads to a revolution in user interfaces in other CG Software. I have no desire to learn scripting or spend months learning a dozen different interfaces to accomplish one complete image. I plan on spending most of my time in ZBrush for a while. I let it go to learn the basics in other software and I still hate the Programs. I spend so much time in help files and tutorials it destroys any inspiration and removes the enjoyment of creation.

Thank you so much Pixologic. This is a significant milestone in the merger between the artist and a computer.
